All types of membership entitle you to join society visits, attend the AGM and special events, receive information on affiliated local Area Groups and allows you to purchase items such as binders, society caps and engraved glassware. You will also have access to the Society Library located at the Apedale Valley Railway, Chesterton, nr Stoke-on -Trent.
All membership categories will allow you to join us on our visits to narrow gauge and miniature railways, many of which are not normally open to the public, and to visit our library. To join us on our visits, you must be a full member, e-member, family associate member or a visits & e-NGN member.

The membership year runs from 1 April to 31 March. If you join the Society between 1 April and 31 December, you will receive all our publications for the year (including any back issues, subject to availability). Generally, if you join between 1 January and 31 March, your membership will run to 31 March in the following year. You will receive all the publications issued in the membership year. In your welcome pack, you will also receive example copies of our magazines
When you join the Society, you become a member of Narrow Gauge Railway Society, a company limited by guarantee and registered in England and Wales number 9925208.
The Narrow Gauge Railway Society and Data Protection:
In joining/ renewing your membership of the Narrow Gauge Railway Society you accept the terms and conditions of membership and undertake that, in the event the Society being wound up during the currency of your membership, or within one year thereafter, to contribute to the assets of the Society a sum not exceeding £1 towards the costs, charges and expenses of winding up.
Any personal information you give to us, whether written or electronic, will be processed in accordance with the UK Data Protection Act 1998and the General Data Protection Regulation ((EU) 2016/679). The NGRS will use the information to process your membership and it will be used and shared in connection with society activities (for example provision of key facts and details about the Society, provision of mailing lists for our magazines, notification of open days, organised visits and meetings including Local Area Group meetings, notification of the expiry of your subscription, etc.).

The Society may also use the information to support its own financial records, marketing and market research activities. The information you provide will not be used for purposes other than the operation of the Society. Persons under the age of 16 years who wish to become a Full Member will be required to obtain their parent or guardians consent.
